Non-Destructive Bypass Techniques
Bypass methods target the structural, mechanical, or sensory vulnerabilities surrounding a locking system without manipulating the lock cylinder itself.
1. Under-Door Tool (UDT) Attack
- Principle: Reaching beneath the door undercut to manipulate the interior egress handle or crash bar.
- Target Hardware: Commercial Lever Handles on Outswing Doors.
- Execution:
- Slide the semi-rigid wire base under the door threshold.
- Align the looped cable head over the interior lever handle using camera or mirror guidance.
- Pull the internal pull-string to tighten and depress the lever, withdrawing the latch bolt.
2. Latch Slipping (Shove Knife / Mica Slip)
- Principle: Depressing the spring latch directly through the door reveal gap.
- Target Hardware: Outswing exterior doors or interior office doors where the latch bevel faces the operator.
- Limitation: Ineffective if the auxiliary deadlocking pin is properly seated and depressed against the strike plate face.
3. Request to Exit (REX) Sensor Triggering
- Principle: Injecting a thermal or physical perturbation through door gaps into the field of view of interior Request to Exit (PIR) sensors.
- Target Hardware: Magnetic Lock Access Systems.
- Execution: Spraying inverted canned air (refrigerant mist) through meeting stiles or door seams to rapidly alter ambient infrared contrast.
